New Delhi:
Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson, the most subscribed YouTuber in the world, asked today if he could become CEO of Twitter. The YouTuber’s statement comes days after Twitter Chief Executive Elon Musk conducted a poll asking users whether he should remain at the helm of the microblogging platform.
In a poll released Monday, 57 percent of voters, or 10 million votes cast, supported Musk’s resignation just eight weeks after his $44 billion takeover of the company.
Sharing the poll results, Musk said he would step down as Twitter CEO once a suitable replacement is found. The world’s second richest man wrote on Twitter: “As soon as I find out that someone is stupid enough to take this job, I will resign as CEO! After that, I will only manage the software and server teams.”
Mr Donaldson asked in a tweet today if he could run the social media company. “Can I be the new Twitter CEO?” he tweeted.
In response to the 24-year-old YouTuber’s tweet, Musk said, “It’s not impossible.”
Since he took the helm of Twitter in October, Musk has turned to polls to create a new social media policy on the fly, although critics say polls are easily gamed and not representative of Twitter’s user base.
He also picked fights with the media, leaking private messages and emails of his own employees. He has feuded with Apple, restored former President Donald Trump’s account based on the results of a Twitter poll, and recently began discussing the possibility of his own assassination.
