New Delhi:
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal today introduced the Jan Vishwas (Articles Amendment) Bill 2022 to decriminalize minor offenses to facilitate business.
In addition to the decriminalization of minor offences, the bill envisages the rationalization of fines according to the seriousness of the offences, to strengthen trust-based governance.
“Another novelty involved in the proposal is that, once the bill becomes law, the minimum amount of fines and fines will be increased by 10% after every three-year period,” according to a statement from Object and Reason.
The bill was later referred to a 31-member joint parliamentary committee for review.
Members of the Lok Sabha include PP Chaudhary, Sanjay Jaiswal, Rajendra Agrawal, Poonam Pramod Mahajan, Gaurav Gogoi, A Raja and Sougata Ray. The names of the 10 members from the Rajya Sabha will be announced later.
The bill was introduced amid protests from opposition parties demanding discussions on the border with China.
