CSK are notoriously conservative in IPL auctions but this time they decided to go all out.

Notably, Stokes is now CSK’s most expensive buy, surpassing Deepak Chahar (140 crore rupees).

CSK chief executive Kasi Viswanathan was asked at a media briefing after the third set if he had received any information from captain Dhoni about picking Stokes.

In this regard, Kasi said that Dhoni has no news about the acquisition of Stokes, but the team has entered the auction preparations, ready to pay for an all-round big player, and they are very happy to obtain the services of this all-round player.

Stokes has had a mixed record in the league and CSK are keen to have him in the squad as they look to match Mumbai’s five titles.
