Diabetic Diet: How To Make Ragi Idli To Control Blood Sugar Levels


Diabetes is one of the biggest health problems facing the world today. It is an irreversible disease characterized by unstable blood sugar levels. Since time immemorial ragi has been used in various dishes like upma, dhokla, dosa, chakli etc. As the name suggests, this idli is made using ragi. Does ragi increase blood sugar?

Ragi is rich in fiber which makes it very healthy and nutritious. It is a good substitute for white rice and wheat. It is often recommended for diabetics as it helps control blood sugar levels. The presence of dietary fiber helps keep you feeling full for longer.

Ragi Idli Recipe: How To Make Ragi Idli

First, take a pan and bake it over medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Let it cool. Take a large mixing bowl, pour the sooji into this bowl, add the ragi, yoghurt, cilantro and salt. Mix all the ingredients and add water little by little until you get a smooth batter. Let stand for 20 minutes.

Now, take the batter and add a little baking soda. Take a tray from the idli steamer and spread some oil on it. Carefully pour the idli batter into the molds. Put in a steamer and steam for 6-7 minutes. After steaming, let cool for 2-3 minutes, and then start to unmould. Rava idli is ready!
