Google has filed a challenge with the appeal court NCLAT (National Company Law Appellate Tribunal) challenging the CCI (Competition Commission of India) order regarding unfair business practices in the Android mobile device ecosystem, a company spokesperson said today.
In October, the Competition Commission imposed a hefty fine of Rs 13,377.6 crore on Internet giant Google for abusing its dominance in several markets related to Android mobile devices and ordered the Internet giant to cease and desist from various unfair business conduct.
“We have decided to appeal the CCI’s decision on Android because we believe it is a major setback for Indian users and businesses who trust Android’s security features, and could drive up the cost of mobile devices,” a Google spokesperson told PTI. “We look forward to Present our case in NCLAT and remain committed to serving our users and partners,” the spokesperson added.
