Punjab Kings entered the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction with a purse balance of INR 32.20 crore. With that money, the team is expected to go after some of the most sought-after players at the auction.as a name Sam Curran At the auction, PBKS chased the England all-rounder and brought him in for a record Rs 1.85 crore. Punjab co-owner Ness Wadia later explained the “reasoning” behind what made Curran the “most expensive buy” in IPL auction history.
“It’s about getting the right balance, so far so good, hands crossed. It’s great to have Sam back. We had him play 7-7.5 a few years ago and then Chennai had him. Curran was followed by fierce bids from Mumbai Indians, Bengaluru Royal Challengers, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings, who frantically raised their rackets to secure The service of the best players of the T20 World Cup.
In the end, Punkab Kings gave everything to get Curran, whose highest bid surpassed the best buy-in price of Rs 16.25 crore paid by Rajasthan Royals for the South African all-rounder Chris Morris 2021.
Curran’s shares soared after he was named man of the match for England in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Having played for Punjab in the past, this will be the all-rounder’s second time with the team.
