Russian envoy says relations with U.S. are in ‘ice age’ with ‘high’ risk of conflict

Moscow:

Russia’s ambassador to the United States on Friday compared the state of U.S.-Russian relations to an “ice age” and said the risk of a conflict between the two countries was “high,” state news agency TASS reported.

Anatoly Antonov was quoted by the TASS news agency as saying that it was difficult to say when the strategic dialogue talks between the two sides could resume, but that the talks on the exchange of prisoners were “valid” and would continue.

U.S.-Russia relations have plummeted to their lowest point in decades amid the fallout from Russia’s military action in Ukraine and the ensuing Western sanctions.
