Veteran Telugu actor Kaikala Satyanarayana dies at 87

Veteran Telugu actor Kaikala Satyanarayana died early Friday morning at his residence in Hyderabad at the age of 87. The veteran actor has been in more than 750 films since the NTR days, when he was originally used to play his con man. During his decades-long career, he has played heroes, villains and character roles in family and society dramas as well as mythological films. He is also an MP for the 11th Lok Sabha from the Telugu Desam party. Members of the Telugu Film Brotherhood rallied in grief to pay tribute to the veteran actor on social media.

Actor Kalyanram paid tribute to Kaikala Satyanarayana in his tweet, writing: “Sad news of Kaikala Satyanarayana’s passing long. An absolute legend that has immortalized many characters of our Telugu screen. Om Shanti. “

“Rest in peace legend Kaikala Satyanarayana garu. We will miss you forever,” filmmaker Maruthi tweeted.

In his tribute to Kaikala Satyanarayana, actor and producer Ganesh wrote: “Legendary actor Kaikala Satyanarayana garu. Rest in peace. May his soul rest in peace.”

Kaikala Satyanarayana is survived by his wife Nageswaramma Satyanarayana, two daughters and two sons.

Apart from acting, Kaikala Satyanarayana has also dabbled in producing.His production company, Rama Films, produces supporting projects such as Kodama Simham, Bangaru Kutumbam, Muddula Mogudu, to name a few. He has received several awards including the 2017 Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and the Andhra Pradesh Government’s Nandi Film Award for his contribution to Telugu cinema.

His first project as an actor was Changayya’s 1959 film Supay Kuturu. A year later, he starred in Apoorva Sahasra Siraccheda Chintamani. He also starred in Durga Pooja Mahima, in which he played the villain for the first time. Kaikala Satyanarayana was last seen in the 2009 film Arundati.
