Rahul Shewale said he had asked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to order an investigation.

Mumbai:

Rahul Shewale, a member of the Lok Sabha from the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde, has asked the National Bureau of Investigation to investigate allegations of rape against him by a woman he says has links to Pakistani and fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim.

Speaking at a press conference today, Mr Shewale said he had made the request to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister and Home Affairs Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

“This woman has made baseless allegations against me… She is a habitual complainant and has been harassing me and my family for the past two years. She has links to Pakistan and Daoud Ibrahim. She abused my help during the COVID-19 pandemic and wanted to end my political career,” Mr Shewale claimed.

A court in Andheri had directed that charges be filed against the woman, he said, adding that his wife had filed charges against her at Govandi police station.

“The police are looking for the woman. It is a serious matter that the woman is being protected and taken on a public platform. Yuva Sena and the Congress Party are behind this move,” Mr Shewale claimed.

Maharashtra State Legislative Council Vice Chairman Neelam Gorhe on Thursday asked the state government to form a Special Investigation Team or SIT to investigate the rape allegations against the South Central Mumbai MP, after the Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC filed a motion in the House of Representatives. this matter.

The woman had lodged charges against Mr Shewale earlier this year.
