3 arrested in Karnataka murder case


Police also said details of the accused will not be released until their identity has been established.

Mangaluru:

Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man named Jaleel in Katippalla, Mangalore, police said on Monday.

Police Commissioner N Shashikumar said that of the three, two were directly involved in the crime while the third was an accomplice.

“During the investigation, we detained 12 people, including a woman. We also questioned many people, including Jaleel’s family. After the interrogation, three people were arrested. The two attackers were repeat offenders and they were violent. The motive behind the murder will be investigated,” the commissioner said.

He also said details of the accused would not be released until the identity of the accused was established.

Jaleel, the owner of an upscale store, was stabbed to death in front of his shop in the Mangaluru suburb of Katippalla on the night of December 24.

Police enforced CrPC Section 144 restrictions at Surathkal, Bajpe, Kavoor and Panambur police stations in Mangaluru from 6am on 25th December to 6am on 27th December to prevent any misfortune following the murder event. The sale of alcohol is also prohibited before 10am on December 27.

On December 25, locals held a protest in front of the mosque, demanding that Jalil’s body be kept, justice for his death and compensation for his family.
