Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh:
A 6-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district, police said on Saturday.
The incident took place in the village of Badola under the confines of the Carrera police station on Friday night.
Police Superintendent Satish Chouhan said the girl’s mother took her to a temple where religious services were taking place. The girl got separated and her mother thought she must have gone home.
But when she was found missing, police lodged a complaint.
Her body was found behind the village public school on Saturday morning with a cloth gagged in her mouth.
A case of rape and related offenses has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) and investigations are ongoing, the official said.
District Police Chief Rajesh Chandel announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the offender.
