Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc has delayed finalizing budgets for several teams as it prepares for another round of layoffs, British “Financial Times” reports Saturday.

The Financial Times, citing two Meta employees familiar with the situation, reported that the budget and future staff numbers had been unclear in recent weeks.

Meta did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment outside normal business hours.

Earlier this month, Meta announced that it expects its spending in 2023 to be between $89 billion and $95 billion, a period CEO Mark Zuckerberg called a “year of efficiency.”

WhatsApp’s owner cut more than 11,000 jobs in November, or 13% of its workforce, after tech companies including Amazon and Microsoft announced thousands of layoffs amid the downturn.
