A 59-year-old woman was injured after two men entered her flat and attacked her at knifepoint before robbing a gold chain in Parel, central Mumbai, police said on Saturday.

When she was alone on Friday night, the men posed as technicians to fix a Wi-Fi connection and gained access to her apartment.

One of them gagged her with cotton and took her gold necklace, an official said. They asked for the key to the cupboard, but she refused, before one of them stabbed her in the chest with a kitchen knife and fled.

The injured woman notified her neighbors and called her husband before she was rushed to a hospital, the official said.

He added that Bhoiwada Police Station has registered a case under different provisions of the Indian Penal Code and is currently searching for the duo.
