‘Those who believe in Tipu Sultan…’: Karnataka’s Amit Shah

Congress and JD(S) will not do Karnataka any good, says senior BJP leader.

Mangaluru, Karnataka:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday accused Congress and the JD(S) of trusting Tipu Sultan, the 18th-century ruler of Mysoru, that the two parties do Karnataka no favors, while hailing the 16th-century queen of Tuluva. Inspired ruling BJP Ullal Rani Abbakka Chowta, ruled for the prosperity of the state.

Mr Shah also claimed that Congress was corrupt and that the opposition was using Karnataka as “an automatic teller machine (ATM) for the Gandhi family”.

“Let me ask you when I come here. Should people vote for JD(S) and Congress who believe in Tipu, or vote for BJP who believe in Rani Abbakka?” Mr Shah asked people.

The Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperatives in Puttur celebrated the Golden Jubilee of the Central Areca and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative Ltd (CAMPCO) in Puttur, Dakshina Kannada District.

“Who should form the next government of Karnataka – the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is a team of patriots led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, or a corrupt Congress which will make Karnataka A cash machine for the Gandhi family?” Mr Shah asked the crowd.

Congress and JD(S) will not do Karnataka any good, says senior BJP leader. “As long as there is a BJP government, Karnataka will prosper,” the Union home minister said.

According to Mr Shah, farmers across the country remember the pro-farmer measures taken by former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa. He added that the whole country remembers Mr Yediyurappa because Bengaluru prospered under his leadership.
