Mohammad Rizwan was left out of Pakistan’s XI for their home Test series against New Zealand, which came as a surprise to fans and pundits. However, in his place, Safaraz Ahmed, in the two-game series, was named the series player of the year, scoring 335 points in four innings for an incredible 83.75 average. In a recent interaction, Rizwan revealed that he was left out of the team. Rizwan revealed that he himself had asked the team management to fire him because he did not deserve a place in the starting lineup.
“You can ask the coach Sacrament Mustak That’s what I told him after the England Test series. I’m happy to see Sarfaraz in action because that’s what I want. Personally, I don’t think I deserve to be in the next series since I can’t act. Some players said that every player will go through this stage and cannot sit on the bench because of a few failures. I went to the coaches and captains myself and told them that you can send me off because I haven’t performed yet,” he said. Rizwan told Cricket Pakistan in an interview.
Rizwan added that he asked the management to play Safaraz, who has excelled on the domestic circuit.
“Two players were witnesses to this conversation. Sarfaraz has been performing domestically and now deserves his chance. So, I am happy to see what Sarfaraz is doing because I asked for his inclusion. Whoever performs best in Pakistan will Should play. I was never injured when I used to sit on the bench during PSL. I think they were honest with the team when the request was to have me on the bench,” he added.
