To date, more than 24,000 people have died in the earthquake.
UN aid chief Martin Griffiths described the devastating earthquake that hit southern Turkey and northwestern Syria on Saturday as “the worst event in the region in 100 years”.
Speaking at a news conference in Turkey’s Kahramanmaras province, Griffith also praised Turkey’s response to the disaster as “remarkable.”
He also told Reuters he hoped aid in Syria would go to both government and opposition-held areas, but that things were “unclear” on that front.
