Gurgaon:
Police suspect a robbery after a married couple and their three servants were found unconscious at a house in Shivaji Nagar on Friday afternoon.
The incident took place at the house of businessman and advocate Mahesh Raghav, which is just 100 meters from the Gurgaon police chief’s office. The five were taken to hospital in a stable condition, police said.
They said that based on initial investigations, it appeared to be a robbery because a cook employed by the couple was missing.
Valuables may have been looted as the room’s wardrobe was found open and the digital video recorder of the house’s CCTV cameras was missing.
A senior official said Mr Raghav regained consciousness during the night and questioned the chef’s role, police said.
“Raghav told us that the cook was hired through a placement agency run by Rajesh. The cook, who is native of Uttarakhand, had been working at their home since March 3. The five were killed after a lunch prepared by him. Unconscious. We are trying to contact the operator of the resettlement facility,” the official said.
