2 delivery executives under fire for having no change in Delhi

New Delhi:

Two delivery supervisors of an online grocery company were allegedly beaten by some at Rajouri Gardens in Sidhi for not having change, police said on Saturday.

The incident happened on Friday, they said.

According to police, two delivery workers from online grocer Blinkit – Aman and Gurpal Singh – were physically assaulted by a customer while making a delivery at his home.

In his statement, Mr Singh claimed that he went to Tarunsuli’s house to deliver an order worth Rs 1,655 rupees. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Ghandhyam Bansal said Mr Suri started misbehaving with them because he had no change.

Following this, three or four individuals assaulted the delivery supervisor, the DCP said.

“We have provided the necessary support and cooperation to the authorities to assist them in their investigation. The safety and well-being of our delivery partners is of paramount importance to us. We have taken immediate action to provide healthcare to affected deliveries Support and loss compensation partners ensure they have everything they need to prioritize recovery,” a Blinkit spokesperson said.

Under Sections 295A (Winful and malicious conduct intended to provoke the religious feelings of any class by insulting their religion or religious beliefs), 323 (Punishment for voluntary infliction of injury), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), 427 (Practice 50 rupees) and 34 (joint intent) have been registered and an investigation has been launched, the police said.

The defendants also accused the delivery man of misbehaving towards the women present, they added.
