Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be retiring the jersey number worn AB de Villiers and Chris Gale When the two cricket legends were inducted into the Indian Premier League (IPL) team’s Hall of Fame on March 26. “As we bring in RCB legends, jersey numbers 17 and 333 will be permanently retired in honor of @ABdeVilliers17 and @henrygayle inducted into the Hall of Fame,” RCB tweeted. The number 17 jersey has become synonymous with de Villiers, who played for RCB for 11 seasons (2011-2021) and scored 4,491 points in 156 games for the team.
The charismatic South African cricketer also struck 37 half-tons and two centuries for RCB, with a high of 133 not out in 2015.
De Villiers, who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in November 2021, has batted 152 for the RCB.

The West Indian tough guy Gail played for RCB for seven seasons (2011-2017), and his No. 333 jersey has become the most feared jersey for opponents.

Gayle started with the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2009 before moving to RCB, where he had the longest stint in the IPL franchise. He was acquired by the Punjab Kings in 2018 and played there for four seasons.
